"The Wonderful Mr. Pip Generator"
In 2021 the world of “non-fungible tokens,” or “NFT’s,” experienced one of the most dramatic rises in popularity of any recent internet-fad. At its height in 2021, NFT avatars in particular were considered a shining beacon of light for the future of art and digital currency, but now in 2024, their value has plummeted, and these ugly randomized characters are nothing but a flashback to the social isolation that the world experienced in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to CNBC, Justin Bieber spent 500 ETH ($1.3 million) on a Bored Ape Club NFT during the 2021 craze, and as of July 2023, his avatar monkey was valued at $59,000, losing 95% of its original value. The Wonderful Mr. Pip Generator prints randomized “Mr. Pip” characters upon $1 payments, giving its buyers their own unique, 1-of-1 “work of art” that is essentially good for nothing as a flimsy 4”x6” card. There are over 1,000 possible Mr. Pip variations.
